Inter defender Stefan De Vrij could not hide his delight at being able to lift the Serie A title following their 5-1 win over Udinese on the final day of the season today.
The Nerazzurri wrapped up their season in style, as first half goals from Ashley Young and Christian Eriksen were followed up by a Lautaro Martinez penalty and Ivan Perisic’s strike after the break, whilst Romelu Lukaku added gloss to the win.
Speaking to Inter TV following the celebrations after lifting the Scudetto, De Vrij was overjoyed to have become a champion and described the emotion of winning the league.
“It’s a huge day, this smile can’t be removed anymore. It’s an unforgettable feeling, these are the targets we have in our careers, when you achieve them it’s beautiful,” the former Lazio defender announced.
De Vrij did not feature in the win over Udinese, with Andrea Ranocchia and Danilo D’Ambrosio afforded starts alongside Alessandro Bastoni, but joined in with the celebrations on the pitch as captain Samir Handanovic lifted the trophy.
The Dutchman arrived at Inter from Lazio in 2018 and has made 124 appearances for the club, scoring seven goals.
