Inter CEO Beppe Marotta argued that coach Antonio Conte was correct in describing the club’s Scudetto success this season as a ‘work of art’.
The Nerazzurri were crowned champions earlier this month and were finally able to lift the Serie A title today, following their 5-1 thrashing of Udinese at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in the last game of the season.
In an interview with Inter TV following the title celebrations, Marotta reflected on the significance of the Scudetto and felt that the success was the reward for hard work and sacrifice amongst everyone related to the club.
“As our coach said, this Scudetto is a great work of art. It was an extraordinary task, the result of a great work ethic and a sense of belonging on the part of all the protagonists. This Scudetto is the recognition for the club, the coach, the players and obviously all our fans,” Marotta claimed.
The ex-Juventus director praised the work of Conte over the past two seasons and felt it had culminated in the league title this term, whilst also pointing to January’s 2-0 league victory over his former club as the moment he knew they would go on to win the Scudetto.
“With the work of Antonio Conte we had laid the foundations already last season, and the growth has materialised further this year to allow us to build a team and a very close group. This has helped us to overcome even the most difficult moments and achieve this success.
“When we defeated Juventus 2-0, I think it was the moment from which our strong conviction began. That success gave us great confidence and from there we began a path that allowed us to reach the Scudetto with a large margin over our opponents,” he added.
