Inter CEO Beppe Marotta insisted that today’s match against Udinese is only about the celebrating the Scudetto, but tomorrow’s meeting with coach Antonio Conte will shape the future.

The Nerazzurri face Udinese at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza this afternoon as they bring the curtain down on a season in which they won a first league title since 2010.

Speaking to Italian television broadcaster DAZN ahead of kick-off, Marotta insisted that he was confident about Conte’s future at the club, with the coach due to meet President Steven Zhang tomorrow.

“I am always optimistic. Today we want to enjoy this day, from tomorrow we will immerse ourselves in the new season, serving Inter’s interests but also respecting the professionals who work here,” Marotta declared.

Inter will lift the Serie A trophy following the conclusion of the match but there will be limited numbers of spectators in the stadium, with only 1,000 sponsors, relatives of players, and guests of the club invited.

Marotta admitted that the joy of winning the title had been tempered somewhat by a season played behind closed doors and wanted to share the experience with the club’s fans.

“It’s a bittersweet feeling. Celebrating is beautiful, but we can only do it partially as the fans are away and cannot share the highlight of the trophy with the team. It’s a shame.

“Every victory is always a great joy. Winning with Inter in this historical cycle is unforgettable for everyone. It’s the result of a great sacrifice and the great work of everyone, from the coach to those involved with the team.

“It has an immeasurable value. Being champions of Italy is not trivial thing,” Marotta concluded.
