Inter centre-back Stefan De Vrij claimed that the club’s Serie A title has come as a result of their hard work and was reward for sacrifices made.

The Netherlands international was an unused substitute as Inter rounded off their season with a 5-1 thrashing of Udinese at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza today, having wrapped up the Scudetto earlier this month.

In an interview with Italian television broadcaster DAZN following the final whistle of the game, De Vrij insisted that Inter deserved the title for the work they had put in.

“This trophy is beautiful, we had to wait a couple of weeks and finally we were able to lift it,” De Vrij declared.

“It’s a goal achieved with sacrifice and hard work from the start. We all made ourselves available to reach this title.”

De Vrij has formed an impressive defensive block alongside teammates Milan Skriniar and Alessandro Bastoni this season, with Inter only conceding 35 league goals in the entire campaign.

“I have always given my best, like everyone else. We helped each other, we were a close group, and we managed to reach the target,” he added.

De Vrij has made 32 league appearances for Inter this season, scoring once.
