Inter captain Samir Handanovic spoke of his joy at finally lifting the Serie A title with the club, whilst revealing his most important save of the season.
The Slovenian goalkeeper started today’s 5-1 win over Udinese at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza before being replaced by Daniele Padelli at half-time, and lifted the Scudetto for the first time in his career after the match.
In an interview with Italian television broadcaster DAZN following the final whistle, the 36-year-old revealed his excitement at finally helping the club to a league title, but warned that Inter were looking for more silverware.
“There is great emotion, joy, happiness. We have waited a long time for this moment, today is the day we are rewarded. We are enjoy it, but it must be a starting point,” Handanovic declared.
“It’s been a dream since childhood, I’m excited to lift the trophy.”
The former Udinese goalkeeper also claimed that his most important save of the successful had come in the Nerazzurri’s 2-0 win over Juventus in January.
“My best save was from Chiesa in the first match against Juve,” he added.
Handanovic joined the Nerazzurri in 2012 and has made 389 Serie A appearances for the club, breaking the record for a goalkeeper set by Walter Zenga.
