Inter President Steven Zhang has revealed that he had always been confident the Nerazzurri would win the Scudetto, after Antonio Conte’s side were crowned champions.
The Nerazzurri lifted the Serie A trophy today following their 5-1 thrashing of Udinese at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, having sealed the title earlier this month.
Speaking to Italian television broadcaster DAZN after the Scudetto party on the pitch at the end of the game, Zhang insisted that he was sure that the club would win a first league title since 2010.
“To be honest, from the first training session I talked to the team, thinking that we could achieve something great. But the decisive moment was in the victory against Juventus, in a great match. In my opinion, the team have grown,” the Suning representative declared.
Suning and Zhang have been at the helm since 2016 and the President felt that the triumph was a special moment that had been a culmination of their work.
“It is a special moment for all the work we have done in these five years, since we have embraced the Inter project as Suning. It is a joy that we want to share with all our fans around the world, this feeling is wonderful.”
Zhang also took the opportunity to pay tribute to everyone involved at Inter after the Nerazzurri finally achieved their success.
“First of all I would like to thank all those who have supported me and supported us in these five years. We wanted to win something important and so it was.
“Not only to the coach and the team, but I want to thank everyone in the club. We want to share this joy with everyone,” Zhang concluded.
