Inter President Steven Zhang has praised coach Antonio Conte for leading the club to first Scudetto since 2010, following a 5-1 win over Udinese on the final day of the season.
Conte’s side enjoyed a dominant win to end their season, as Ashley Young, Christian Eriksen, Lautaro Martinez, Ivan Perisic, and Romelu Lukaku fired them to victory at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
With the Nerazzurri lifting the Serie A trophy at the conclusion of the game, Zhang declared that Conte had been a key factor in their success this season, in an interview with Italian television broadcaster Sky Sport Italia.
“He pushed all of us towards the goal, not just the players. He is a great motivator, today the target was achieved also and it is above all thanks to him,” Zhang claimed.
The Suning man also revealed his emotions upon arriving at the stadium for the match, amidst the Scudetto celebrations.
“It was a special state of mind, which I find hard to describe in words. The work done has borne fruit and now I want to share this joy with everyone.
“Every day, every game over the past five years has been important. Everything done was to achieve this goal.”
With Inter crowned league champions for the first time since 2010, the President addressed the Nerazzurri’s supporters and hoped that the success would live long in the memory of the club.
“We arrived in Europe five years ago dreaming of winning an important title and we did it. The hope is that this joy and this positive energy can continue for a hundred years,” Zhang added.
