Inter wing-back Matteo Darmian believes it is right for the team to enjoy their Scudetto celebrations after earning the Serie A title this season.
The Nerazzurri were crowned champions this term for the first time since 2010 and rounded off their memorable season with an impressive 5-1 victory over Udinese today, although Darmian was suspended for the encounter.
He was present for the trophy celebration after the final whistle however, and in an interview with Inter TV insisted that it was fair for the team to make the most of their triumph after a year of hard work.
“We deserved this championship, so it is right that we enjoy it because it was earned,” Darmian argued.
The 31-year-old also revealed that he was looking forward to being able to share his memories of the occasion with his child after helping Inter become league champions for the 19th time in their history.
“My son is two years old, I hope he is already beginning to understand things. But when he grows up I will be able to tell him about this unforgettable day for everyone,” the former Manchester United defender claimed.
Darmian joined Inter on loan from relegated Parma this season and has scored four goals in 33 appearances in all competitions.
