Antonio Conte will only agree to stay at Inter if he has ‘clear reassurance’ about next season, according to a report in the Italian media today.
Tuttosport’s print edition confirmed that today could be the day Conte met with Inter president Steven Zhang to discuss his future.
If they wish to keep Conte, Inter will need to make it very clear to him that they intend to remain competitive despite their financial problems.
Conte’s assistant Cristian Stellini took over post-match duties yesterday following the 5-1 win over Udinese, but he seemed to have been sent in front of the cameras with a message to deliver from Conte.
Inter’s head coach will only stay, at least so it seems, if he can continue to target trophies next season, and that is a stance shared by Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio.
Both directors are out of contract in 2022, just like Conte and Lele Oriali and Dario Baccin.
