Inter will need to be very careful with what they promise to Antonio Conte for next season, a report in the Italian media warned today.
As per Tuttosport’s print edition, Inter are hoping to cut costs and rejuvenate their squad in the summer transfer window, due to the club’s well-documented financial problems.
The Nerazzurri are hoping to replace some of their older squad players with younger talents, but this might not be accepted by Conte.
Conte is used to working with players who are ready to win immediately, the Turin-based paper explained, so he may prefer to leave Inter if these are the prospects for next season.
Zhang will need to convince Conte they can reinforce Inter’s squad sufficiently in the summer, with Conte seeking a left wing-back, a striker and a midfielder.
Conte is ‘not convinced’ by the idea of having a load of inexperienced youngsters to back up the starting XI, and you only need to look back to last summer for an example of that.
Inter were close to signing Sandro Tonali and Marash Kumbulla in 2020, only for the Nerazzurri to ditch both signings and pick up Arturo Vidal and Aleksandar Kolarov instead.
“This gives you a good idea of what Conte thinks about young players,” the report warned.
