Antonio Conte is waiting for a meeting at Inter that may never arrive, a report in the Italian media explained today.
Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition confirmed Conte wanted talks with Steven Zhang to discuss Suning’s plans for the future and get reassurance about their summer transfer plans.
However, Suning seem intent on ‘dodging’ this face-to-face meeting because they don’t think it is necessary, having already made their plans clear with Inter’s directors.
Conte is eager to have a direct confrontation with Zhang though, otherwise he will struggle to stay at the club with confidence.
Inter’s boss is fighting to ensure his squad will not be weakened, having been appointed after receiving big promises from Suning about their project for the club.
Conte is not looking for more money or a contract extension, the Milan-based paper explained, but only reassurance about what lies ahead.
Inter fans do not deserve the tension and confusion which has arisen in recent weeks, the report argued, especially after Conte just led the club to their first Serie A title in 11 years.
The Nerazzurri supporters are due clarity but Suning seem incapable of providing it for now, keeping everyone in suspense as the summer looms into view.
