Antonio Conte has every reason to stay at Inter and will do exactly that, according to a leading Italian journalist.
Conte’s future remains uncertain as he awaits a face-to-face meeting with Steven Zhang and the Nerazzurri’s directors, which might take place today.
Inter have just won their first Serie A title in 11 years, but there is no guarantee Conte will stick around to build on his incredible achievement this season.
“I think people have dramatised Inter’s situation too much,” Sandro Piccinini argued on Sky Sport Italia after Inter celebrated the Serie A title on Sunday.
“All clubs are having problems and Conte has thousands of reasons to stay at the club.
“There was a bit more uncertainty at the start of last week, but they’ve won the Scudetto and there’s a group which has improved a lot.
“They need a few adjustments in order to compete in the UEFA Champions League, but they don’t need a revolution.
“I think there’s every chance Conte stays at Inter, he has a crucial role there.”
Conte is widely expected to seek reassurance from Zhang about Suning’s ambitions for the club, following a very difficult season for the Nerazzurri’s finances.
Inter dominated Serie A this season and won the league by 12 points, but it remains to be seen whether Conte will get the chance to build on that success next year.
The Nerazzurri might in fact be forced to sell key players in a bid to solve their economic problems.
