Rodrigo de Paul has a clear preference to join Inter if he leaves Udinese, according to a leading Italian transfer expert.

As per Alfredo Pedulla, the Nerazzurri almost signed De Paul for €25 million in 2019 before Luciano Spalletti was dismissed and their transfer plans changed.

The Argentine midfielder now costs at least €40 million, including bonuses, and it remains to be seen whether Inter have the financial resources to sign him this summer.

One thing is for certain though, with Pedulla explaining: “De Paul has interest from all over Europe, but he’s a proud Argentine and would want Inter a lot more than any other club.”

Inter’s transfer plans are on hold until they resolve the situation concerning Antonio Conte’s future, but the next few hours could be decisive in that sense.

The Nerazzurri are hoping they can convince Conte that they won’t sell off key players, after which they would begin planning an ‘intelligent’ recruitment campaign which would be financed by some sales.

Conte needs to be ‘serene and convinced’ for Inter to begin planning next season properly, but everything should become clearer soon.

De Paul would be an ideal reinforcement for his midfield three, having scored nine goals and provided 10 assists for Udinese this season.
