Inter’s talks with Cagliari over Radja Nainggolan are likely to drag well into the summer, the Rossoblu’s sporting director warned today.

Nainggolan spent the second half of this season on loan with Cagliari, having failed to impress under Antonio Conte before Christmas.

The midfielder wants to rejoin the Sardinian outfit on a permanent deal, but Inter reportedly rejected a first bid last week.

“It’s going to be a hassle negotiating for Nainggolan,” Cagliari sporting director Stefano Capozucca told reporters at a press conference today (via CagliariNews24.com).

“I met Inter yesterday and they don’t have the slightest intention of conceding ground to Cagliari.

“We need to take care of our own business, make the considerations which are opportune and move forwards.

“I’m proud to have had a player and a man like Nainggolan in the team, but we’ll see.

“It’s certainly not an easy matter (to sign him).”

Nainggolan made 22 appearances for Cagliari after moving back there in January, helping Leonardo Semplici’s side secure Serie A survival with two games to spare.

Cagliari are thought to have offered Inter a €5 million offer including €2 million cash, €2 million compensation for Nicolo Barella’s Serie A title bonuses and an option to sign midfielder Riccardo Ladinetti for €2.5 million (valid for 18 months from July 1).

Nainggolan is no longer part of Inter’s plans and that is unlikely to change even if Antonio Conte leaves the club as expected.
