Inter are unlikely to have Simone Inzaghi available as a replacement for the departing Antonio Conte.

Inzaghi was mooted as a potential successor to Conte at Inter with uncertainty over his own future at Lazio, but now it seems he could be set to stay with the Biancocelesti.

Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition said the situation between Lazio and Inzaghi was less critical than it had seemed on Sunday, when Inzaghi had hinted at a departure.

Inzaghi will meet Claudio Lotito today and while a divorce seemed inevitable until yesterday, Gennaro Gattuso’s appointment at Fiorentina has seemingly changed things (because he was a candidate to join Lazio).

The parties have been in contact with one another and it seems the waters are calming around the pair, which means today’s meeting could mark the end of the speculation.

Inzaghi has been in charge of Lazio since 2016 when he replaced Stefano Pioli.
