Inter have set their sights on Simone Inzaghi to replace Antonio Conte, according to a leading Italian journalist tonight.

The Nerazzurri confirmed a short while ago that Conte had left the club by mutual consent after two years in charge, culminating in a 19th Serie A title this month.

As per Gianluca Di Marzio, Inzaghi is meeting Lazio president Claudio Lotito right now to discuss his future, with his contract due to expire next month.

Inter are ‘waiting’ for Inzaghi and are serious about hiring him, after making contact with Inzaghi earlier today.

Max Allegri is another candidate to have been linked with the Inter vacancy, but it would be ‘very difficult’ to hire the former Juventus boss.

Juventus are closing in on re-appointing Allegri, Di Marzio explained, two years after they parted company following the 2018-19 season.

Inzaghi guided Lazio to a sixth place finish in Serie A this season and helped them reach the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League, where they were knocked out by Bayern Munich.
