Inter’s hopes of hiring Simone Inzaghi are slowly decreasing tonight, according to a report in the Italian media.
Gazzetta.it said Inzaghi was moving closer to signing a contract extension to stay at Lazio, following a meeting with club president Claudio Lotito.
The feelings about Inzaghi staying are ‘positive’ and now the pair will continue their talks at a restaurant in Rome, with a view to reaching an agreement soon.
However, it is still too early to say if Inzaghi and Lotito have sorted out all their differences and there are still certain matters which need discussing.
Inter are on the hunt for a new head coach after they incredibly parted company with Antonio Conte earlier tonight.
Conte has left the Nerazzurri after two seasons in charge, which culminated in them winning a 19th Serie A title in emphatic style.
Inzaghi is thought to be Inter’s leading candidate to replace Conte, but he is only an option if he doesn’t renew with Lazio.
