Simone Inzaghi is the most realistic replacement for Antonio Conte at Inter, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As per FcInterNews.it, Conte is increasingly likely to leave the Nerazzurri although Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio are still working to find a compromise solution.

Inter have not contacted Maurizio Sarri, despite links with the former Napoli boss, while Sinisa Mihajlovic has been offered to the club but is not a priority candidate.

Max Allegri is Inter’s first choice to replace Conte, but he is currently closer to rejoining Juventus than coming to Inter.

Inzaghi is due to meet Lazio president Claudio Lotito today and a lot will depend on how the pair’s talks go, the report explained.

If he left the Biancocelesti, Inzaghi would move up Inter’s wish list to replace Conte, not least because he would command a far lower salary than either Conte or Allegri.

This is an aspect which must not be underestimated at a time when Inter are planning to cut costs.
