Inter are set to keep hold of a key academy star for next season, according to a report in the Italian media.

FcInterNews.it said the Nerazzurri had decided against loaning out Primavera midfielder Cesare Casadei, instead opting to keep him with Armando Madonna’s side.

Casadei joined Inter in September last year from Cesena’s youth system and has enjoyed a great season, scoring six goals and providing two assists in 24 appearances across all competitions.

The 18-year-old’s performances earned him a new three-year contract in March, tying him to Inter until the summer of 2024.

Casadei will continue his development with Inter next season, having played a total of 1,923 minutes between the Campionato Primavera, Coppa Primavera and under-18 side.

He normally plays as a central midfielder but can also be a defensive midfielder or a no. 10, if the situation requires it.

Casadei scored four of his goals in the Campionato Primavera this season, including one in a 3-1 win against Lazio.
