Inter are finally ready to sort Alessandro Bastoni’s new contract, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition said the Nerazzurri held productive talks with the defender’s agent Tulio Tinti yesterday, who was spotted leaving the club’s offices.

Bastoni is due to sign a three-year deal with an annual salary worth €4 million after tax, although the parties reached that agreement several months ago.

Inter confirmed during their talks yesterday that they intend to proceed with the renewal, albeit they still need to sort payment structure and a few performance incentives.

Tinti is due to return to Inter’s offices soon to arrange the final details of the deal, and everything points towards an official announcement finally being around the corner soon.

This is an important development for Inter as they go through a very difficult week, following the departure of Antonio Conte as head coach.

Bastoni was very closely attached to Conte but the Nerazzurri are trying to prove that they believe in the 22-year-old, despite lots of interest from other clubs.

Inter want the centre-back to be one of their star players for the future.
