Inter have three candidates available to replace Antonio Conte, according to a report in the Italian media today.
As per Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition, the Nerazzurri were hoping to persuade Max Allegri to join but he has agreed a deal to re-join Juventus instead.
Bologna boss Sinisa Mihajlovic has already played for Inter and spent time as Roberto Mancini’s assistant there, so he is to be considered ‘an outsider’ for the vacancy.
However, Roma’s former boss Paulo Fonseca could also be in the frame, although he would be a more ‘exotic’ choice for the Nerazzurri.
Simone Inzaghi is due to renew with Lazio while there is zero confirmation of Inter’s interest for Maurizio Sarri, whose style of play would not be suited to the squad Conte has left behind.
Given the urgency and delicate nature of the current moment, Inter could even opt for an overseas choice and that would lead them to FC Porto boss Sergio Conceicao, their former midfielder.
