Christian Eriksen could take a big benefit from Simone Inzaghi’s arrival at Inter, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition argued Eriksen could become Inzaghi’s new Luis Alberto after Inter agreed to hire the former Lazio boss on a two-year deal.

Whereas Antonio Conte gave his players very specific instructions which needed to be carried out with precision, Inzaghi gives his players greater freedom to interpret attacking situations.

Eriksen could benefit from the new approach, gaining freedom to be a quality midfielder who can bring the ball forward and shoot on sight.

Inzaghi will continue using Conte’s 3-5-2 system at Inter, the Milan-based paper explained, with slightly different ideas but nothing radically new.

This was one of the reasons that persuaded Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio to hire Inzaghi, after Conte left Inter by mutual consent on Wednesday.

Elsewhere, Inzaghi will also be reunited with Stefan de Vrij whom he coached at Lazio for two seasons, and there is no sign of him dismantling the defensive wall formed by De Vrij, Milan Skriniar and Alessandro Bastoni.

Inzaghi will use Samir Handanovic to play out from the back, just like he did at Lazio with Pepe Reina, and he will keep faith with Marcelo Brozovic and Nicolo Barella in midfield.

Achraf Hakimi has plenty of interest from Europe’s top clubs but he remains one of the very few wing-backs in Serie A who guarantees a greater attacking threat than Manuel Lazzari, who has flourished under Inzaghi in Rome.

Inzaghi will place just as much importance on his wide men as Conte did, the report added.
