Stefano Sensi’s nightmare season could get even worse with the Inter midfielder in danger of missing the European Championships.
Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition said Roberto Mancini was still hopeful of naming Sensi in his Italy squad for the summer tournament, but he is worried about his constant relapses.
Mancini will do everything to protect Sensi and put him in his 26-man list for Euro 2020, but it could be too big a risk to call up both him and Marco Verratti.
Verratti is also in a race against time to recover from an injury, but the PSG midfielder seems further ahead in his rehabilitation than Sensi.
Sensi picked up a thigh injury during Inter’s final game of the season last Sunday, coming off before half-time during their 5-1 win at home to Udinese.
Antonio Conte was unable to count on the 25-year-old for most of the season, with Sensi playing just 635 minutes of football spread across 21 appearances in all competitions.
