Inter have confirmed Alessandro Bastoni will sign a new three-year deal with the club, keeping him there until 2024.

Bastoni is being constantly linked with moves away from the Nerazzurri, as owners Suning look to cut costs ahead of next season.

However, Inter have quashed those rumours – at least for the time being – by announcing some very welcome news for supporters.

“Inter announce they have reached an agreement for the extension of Alessandro Bastoni’s contract,” Inter announced in a club statement.

“The 22-year-old defender will be a Nerazzurri player until 30 June 2024.”

Bastoni was once again linked with a move to Manchester City in today’s papers, with Pep Guardiola thought to be very keen on a deal.

The 22-year-old was a key figure in Antonio Conte’s three-man defence and helped Inter win their first Serie A title in 11 years.

Inter are poised to appoint Simone Inzaghi as Conte’s replacement and he too uses a 3-5-2 system, which could be great news for Bastoni’s prospects.

He has established himself as one of Europe’s most promising young centre-backs and now he has committed to another three years at Inter.
