Inter have confirmed they are in talks with several interested parties to replace Pirelli as their new main shirt sponsor.
The Nerazzurri have not yet secured a replacement for the Italian tyre manufacturer, who will leave their position when their deal expires on June 30.
Inter’s hunt for a new sponsor was one of many issues discussed by the club today in a financial statement published by their media company, Inter Media and Communication S.p.A.
“Our jersey sponsorship contract with Pirelli is expiring on 30 June 2021 after 26 years of relationship (the longest in the European football history),” Inter’s statement read.
“In this respect, we are talking with a number of potential new jersey partners with the goal to finalize an agreement before the starting of the new sporting season.”
Elsewhere, Inter also confirmed Oaktree Capital had provided a €50 million cash injection last week in order to boost the club’s finances.
Suning secured a €275 million financing deal from the US-based private equity firm and that will help them pay player salaries and transfer installments to other clubs.
They have owned Inter since they purchased a 68.55% stake in the club from Erick Thohir in 2016, but things have become very difficult since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
Inter were forced to part company with Antonio Conte on Wednesday after failing to grant him the transfer reassurance he wanted, with Simone Inzaghi lined up to replace him.
Suning are widely expected to try and cut costs by 15-20% this summer, while seeking an €80 million profit from player sales.
