Inter centre-back Alessandro Bastoni has been given a considerable wage rise after penning a new contract at the club this week.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Bastoni has extended his deal by a year to 2024, but has almost tripled his salary by securing €4 million per season.

The former Atalanta defender was previously earning €1.5m per year but his impressive displays in helping Inter to the Scudetto this season have seen him rewarded and he signed the extension yesterday.

Inter had made tying Bastoni down to a new deal a priority as they sought to ward off interest from suitors abroad and had been working on a new deal for some months.

The 22-year-old make 41 appearances in all competitions for the Nerazzurri this season as Inter won their first Scudetto since 2010.

An Italian international, Bastoni has represented the Azzurri on five occasions and has been included in Roberto Mancini’s provisional squad for Euro 2020.
