Ex-Italian national team midfielder Antonio Di Gennaro has heaped praise upon new Inter boss Simone Inzaghi after he made the switch from Lazio.

Simone Inzaghi has impressed fans all over the world as he guided Lazio to two Supercoppa Italiano trophies, and secured a place in the 2020/2021 UEFA Champions League.

Despite a heavy aggregate defeat to Bayern Munich, the appearance was a source of pride for Lazio fans.

This is why many feel very hurt by Simone Inzaghi’s decision to turn his back on contract negotiations and replace the outgoing Antonio Conte at Serie A rivals Inter.

The former Lazio striker has been at the club for 21 years as a player, a Primavera coach and then the head coach.

Di Gennaro believes that Simone Inzaghi is one of the best Italian coaches there are, as he explained in a radio interview with Tmw Radio.

“On a technical level, he is certainly among the best among Italian coaches”.

Antonio Di Gennaro was wary however of the difficult financial climate that Simone Inzaghi is stepping into, after the club announced that they need to raise money through player sales and cut the wage budget.

“At Inter he will have to try to win, but it is an interesting profile. He comes at a time of economic difficulty.”
