Joao Mario is closing in on a permanent move to Sporting CP from Inter after striking an agreement with the Portuguese champions.
According to A Bola, the midfielder has taken a pay cut to remain in Lisbon following a hugely success loan spell at his former club, culminating in a first league title since 2002.
Indeed, Joao Mario has reached an agreement to sign a four-year contract at a reduction on his €2.7 million per season deal at Inter, and the two clubs are now in discussions over a transfer fee.
Whilst the Nerazzurri had initially been holding out for €10m to convert the loan into a permanent transfer, negotiations with the player’s agent, Federico Pastorello, have seen Inter reduce their demands to €8m in one lump sum.
Sporting must now find an agreement with Inter in order to retain Joao Mario and are hopeful of retaining the Portuguese international at the Estadio Jose Alvalade next season.
