Inter have drawn up a contingency plan should they lose centre-back Alessandro Bastoni this summer, with Napoli’s Nikola Maksimovic a prime target.
As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Corriere dello Sport, the new contract signed by Bastoni this week is not considered a guarantee that he will remain into next season and alternatives are already been identified.
Bastoni penned a new deal that runs until 2024 but has attracted considerable interest from abroad, and the Rome-based newspaper suggests that whilst the extension makes it more difficult for him to leave, it should not be taken for granted.
As such, Inter have revisited their interest in Maksimovic and are ready to pounce for him if Bastoni departs, with the Serbia international out of contract this summer and yet to agree to new terms at Napoli.
Elsewhere, defenders Danilo D’Ambrosio and Andrea Ranocchia could be offered extensions to keep them at Inter beyond this summer.
