New graffiti has emerged by Biancoclesti fans criticising Simone Inzaghi for leaving Lazio to join Inter.
The former Lazio coach announced he would be leaving the club to take over at Serie A champions Inter. It seemed that Inzaghi was very close to signing a new contract with the Biancocelesti, but he changed his mind at the last moment.
This came as quite a shock to many Lazio fans, in what has been a tumultuous week in Serie A.
The U-turn came after Antonio Conte resigned from his role at Inter as the club committed to trimming the wage budget and raising money from player sales. This did not match Conte’s ambition so he agreed on a mutual termination of his contract with the club.
Inter moved fast and secured the signature of Inzaghi, who plays a similar system to that of Conte.
In the municipality of Formello, Lazio fans have made their feelings known with a piece of graffiti that says: “Inzaghi traitor, servant of modern football”. The image is circulating in the Italian media.
The message makes it clear that some Lazio fans believe Inzaghi has been disloyal towards the club, and this is a symptom of modern football.
