The impending arrival of Simone Inzaghi as coach could see midfielders Stefano Sensi, Roberto Gagliardini, and Matias Vecino remain at the club.

Former Lazio tactician Inzaghi is expected to take the helm at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza following the departure of Antonio Conte last week and his appointment could be good news for the trio.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inzaghi is a keen admirer of Sensi and is hoping to play him as the pivot of his midfield, having been impressed with his tactical awareness ability to play a pass.

Like Conte, Inzaghi is a proponent of the 3-5-2 formation but his style is less focused on the two attacking options and allows for greater movement and involvement in midfield.

This opens up the possibility of utilising Sensi, who fell out of favour under Conte, whilst it is reported that Inzaghi also sees a future for Gagliardini and Vecino in his midfield.

Sensi has been linked with a move to Shakhtar Donetsk to reunite with his former Sassuolo coach Roberto De Zerbi, whilst Napoli has been suggested as a destination for Vecino following the appointment of ex-Inter coach Luciano Spalletti.
