It is only a matter of time before Simone Inzaghi is formally announced as Inter’s new coach and there is no expectation of problems arising, according to Italian media.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Corriere dello Sport, Inzaghi is expected to take the helm at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza after resigning as Lazio coach in midweek, and will replace Antonio Conte.

The 45-year-old has already undertaken interviews remotely and had a conference call with directors Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio yesterday, outlining the club’s and his own plans for the coming season.

It is expected that Inzaghi will pen a two-year contract at €4 million per season, plus bonuses, and it is described as a “formality” that could become official by the end of the month.

Inzaghi’s remit is to maintain Inter’s place in the Champions League following Conte’s Scudetto success this season, whilst utilising younger players from the academy.

However, Inter’s management are optimistic that the former Italy striker can keep the squad competitive and challenge for silverware again next season.
