Real Madrid’s hopes of convincing former Inter coach Antonio Conte to take up their vacant position depends on signing Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante and Nerazzurri striker Romelu Lukaku.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Corriere dello Sport, Conte is amongst a list of candidates being sounded out to replace Zinedine Zidane, alongside Raul, Xabi Alonso, and Mauricio Pochettino.

However, he remains a long-term target of president Florentino Perez and the Spanish club are hoping to bring him to La Liga just one week after Conte walked away from Inter following their Scudetto triumph.

In order to convince Conte to make the switch to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid must secure a deal for Chelsea’s Champions League-winning midfielder Kante after the coach had worked with him at Stamford Bridge.

Conte was desperate for Inter to sign the Frenchman but the Nerazzurri were unable to strike a deal with Chelsea and so Real Madrid’s hopes of luring the coach would be significantly boosted.

Should this happen, Conte’s next demand would be the signing of Lukaku after the Belgian played a pivotal role in this season’s Serie A title win.

Lukaku netted 24 league goals and forged a strong relationship with Conte, who would look to form a strike partnership between him and Karim Benzema in Madrid.
