Inter are confident they won’t have to break up Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez’s strike partnership, according to a leading Italian broadcaster today.
Sport Mediaset (via FcInter1908.it) said the Nerazzurri would be able to keep the Lu-La together if they complete a deal to sell Achraf Hakimi to Paris Saint-Germain.
Hakimi’s agent recently denied being in contact with other clubs, but this report said a deal was still likely to go through and bring in much-needed funds for Inter.
Inter would then be in a position to keep hold of Lukaku and Lautaro, unless an ‘irrefutable’ offer arrived for either striker.
Simone Inzaghi has already got in touch with Lukaku to reassure the Belgian he would remain a central figure for Inter next season, the report added.
Lukaku’s brother Jordan was coached by Inzaghi briefly at Lazio, albeit the pair did not have a perfect relationship at times.
Inter are hoping they can use enough reassuring words with Lukaku to persuade him to reject any advances he receives, with reports in England suggesting Chelsea are preparing a move.
