Belgium coach Roberto Martinez has labelled Inter striker Romelu Lukaku as one of the best attackers in the world, ahead of his involvement in Euro 2020.

The 28-year-old was in devastating form for the Nerazzurri as he scored 24 goals to fire Inter to the Scudetto this season, and will lead the line for Belgium at the European Championships this summer.

In an interview published in yesterday’s newspaper edition of Spanish outlet Marca, Martinez heaped praise on his striker and felt that he had proved himself to be amongst the elite.

“Lukaku is a goalscorer, he has great instinct in front of goal. Only the best in the world, the great icons of football, have better numbers than him,” the former Everton and Wigan Athletic coach claimed.

Martinez also praised ex-Inter coach Antonio Conte for drawing the best out of Lukaku, as the striker netted 30 goals in all competitions for the second successive season under him.

“In Italy, moreover, he has grown a lot from every point of view, and has exploded thanks to the guidance of Conte. He had an unstoppable dream of winning the title since he was a child.”

Lukaku made his Belgium debut in 2010 and has gone on to score 59 goals in 90 appearances for the Red Devils, representing his country at both the 2014 and 2018 World Cups, as well as Euro 2016.
