Inter could well keep Danilo D’Ambrosio and Andrea Ranocchia after all, according to a report in the Italian media today.

The Nerazzurri were widely expected to release all their players whose contracts are expiring, in a bid to stabilise their delicate financial position.

However, Corriere dello Sport’s print edition has reported that Inter have exercised the clause in D’Ambrosio’s contract to extend his deal, although a renewal has not been made official yet.

Ranocchia, meanwhile, could remain as a back-up to Stefan de Vrij, although Simone Inzaghi will get the final say on whether the defender stays.

D’Ambrosio has drawn links with several Serie A clubs this month, most notably AC Milan and Lazio, but now the 32-year-old looks set to stay with the Nerazzurri.

Ranocchia is said to have a decent chance of remaining as well, despite the departure of Antonio Conte with whom he had a strong bond.
