Emerson Palmieri would be more than happy to return to Serie A, the Chelsea wing-back’s agent confirmed today.
Inter are being linked with a move for the 26-year-old as they seek reinforcements in the left wing-back spot, although Chelsea’s €20 million asking price is thought to be an issue.
Antonio Conte coached Emerson during his time at Chelsea but it seems Inter are still interested in a deal, even now Conte has left the club.
“If the conditions were in place, if there was an ideal scenario, he’d be happy to return to Serie A,” Emerson’s agent Fernando Malta told Calciomercato.it.
“Obviously, as his agency we’re not only focusing on there, Emerson has attracted attention from other leagues and other great European clubs.
“Emerson is often linked to important clubs like Juventus, Napoli and Inter, but now he needs to focus on playing for Italy.
“We need to understand what Chelsea’s next steps will be and what his future will be next season.”
Emerson has struggled for regular game time at Chelsea, making just 15 appearances in all competitions this season under Frank Lampard and Thomas Tuchel.
The Italian-Brazilian scored just once but it was a key goal in their march towards winning the UEFA Champions League, netting in a 2-0 win over Atletico Madrid in the last 16.
Inter are expected to release Ashley Young when his contract expires next month and so new signings are likely needed on the left-hand side.
