Inter have interest for two players from their former boss Luciano Spalletti, according to a report in the Italian media today.
Tuttosport’s print edition said Napoli’s new head coach had set his sights on Matias Vecino and Danilo D’Ambrosio, both of whom he coached during his two-year spell at Inter.
Spalletti was responsible for Inter signing Vecino for €25 million in 2017 after he made an express request to Piero Ausilio, and now he thinks the midfielder could complete his midfield options in Naples.
Inter have the Uruguay international on their balance sheet for €5 million, meaning they could make a capital gain on Vecino if Napoli came calling – especially if he played well at the upcoming Copa America.
Spalletti is also keen on D’Ambrosio, the Turin-based paper added, after the defender saved Inter’s UEFA Champions League qualification in 2019 with a last-minute clearance onto the bar at home to Empoli on the final day of the season.
Inter have exercised their option to extend D’Ambrosio’s contract at the club, meaning Napoli would have to make an offer to the Nerazzurri if they wanted the 32-year-old.
