Lazio centre-back Francesco Acerbi took to Social Media to publicly thank former coach Simone Inzaghi, as he appears set to replace Antonio Conte at Inter.

The former striker departed the Stadio Olimpico last week after five years at the helm and is expected to be formally announced as Inter’s new coach, as the Nerazzurri look to defend their Serie A title.

Italian international Acerbi worked with Inzaghi for three seasons following his arrival from Sassuolo and posted a message on Instagram alongside a photo of the pair.

“Thank you coach for these three years we spent together, you valued and made me feel important by always giving me confidence. This has helped me develop as a professional and I can say that you were fundamental.

“I have always tried my best to reciprocate this. I wish you all the best and a career full of joy and satisfaction. See you on the pitch, fighting as we always have,” Acerbi wrote.
