Italian national team manager Roberto Mancini is considering 24-year-old Inter playmaker Stefano Sensi to bolster his midfield options for the upcoming Euros.

This according to the print edition of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport who suggests that the Italy boss has two main selection dilemmas before he unveils the final squad for the tournament.

The first is to choose one defender between Rafael Toloi and Gianluca Mancini, and then two midfielders between the trio of Matteo Pessina, Bryan Cristante, and Sensi.

The technical profiles of the three midfielders are different, and it is thought that Mancini will hope to use Sensi as a backup to Jorginho as the Inter player has a similar playing style to the 29-year-old who is a fixture in the coach’s starting XI and who has recently won the Champions League with Chelsea.

While Mancini is keen to bring Sensi to the tournament, the 25-year-old Inter midfielder may be too much of an injury risk to make the final squad, only recently returning from a thigh injury.

Italy’s squad already contains the likes of Giacomo Raspadori, Lorenzo Pellegrini, and Leonardo Spinazzola who have recently recovered from injuries.

It is thought that Mancini is waiting for confirmation from Sensi as to the latter’s fitness and ability to play.
