Inter have already identified a possible replacement for Lautaro Martinez, according to a report in Italy today.
Il Giorno’s print edition said Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio did not want to be caught unprepared if El Toro were to leave the Nerazzurri, although Inter intend to keep him.
Inter are being linked with a move for Memphis Depay, who is a free agent from July 1 with his contract at Lyon about to expire.
The Dutch international earns €5 million annually and this is a salary the club could afford, even with their intention to reduce the wage bill.
Marotta and Ausilio would only move for Depay if Inter sold Lautaro, so it remains to be seen if a deal for the 27-year-old will even be necessary.
Achraf Hakimi seems likely to leave though, as Inter look to secure funds that will help them stabilise their delicate financial position.
Depay scored 22 goals and provided 12 assists in all competitions for Lyon last season, helping Rudi Garcia’s side to a fourth-place finish in Ligue 1.
