Inter are keeping a close eye on Antonio Conte’s negotiations with Tottenham Hotspur, according to a leading Italian broadcaster.

Sky Sport Italia (via FcInter1908.it) said the Nerazzurri were hoping Conte wouldn’t try and sign some of his former players if he became Spurs’s new head coach.

Conte has a particularly strong relationship with Romelu Lukaku, so it is not out of the question he could seek a reunion with the Belgian in North London.

Matteo Barzaghi reported: “Lukaku has proven himself a lot at Inter and seems very much intent on continuing his adventure there.

“It wouldn’t be easy for Tottenham (to sign him) even if they tried, so we’ll see.”

Spurs are in danger of losing their star striker Harry Kane in the summer, after he told the Premier League club he wanted to leave.

Conte does not yet have an agreement with Tottenham, because the parties are still negotiating on his wages, but Lukaku would be an obvious option if he did reach an agreement.

Lukaku is reportedly very happy at Inter after winning the Serie A title, although Chelsea remain strongly interested as per multiple reports.
