Christian Eriksen will change his position again when Simone Inzaghi takes over at Inter, according to a report in the Italian media today.
Tuttosport’s print edition said Eriksen would most likely play in a more advanced role under the former Lazio boss, who is due to replace Antonio Conte at San Siro.
Inzaghi could turn Eriksen into a clone of Luis Alberto, allowing the Dane to thrive again in the no. 10 role with which he is more familiar.
Eriksen struck up a good relationship with Conte during the second half of the 2020-21 season, but he was being played in a deeper midfield role which never quite suited him perfectly.
Alexis Sanchez is another player who could benefit from Inzaghi’s arrival at Inter, the Turin-based paper suggested.
The Chilean forward has similar characteristics to Joaquin Correa and could be a useful resource for Inter if they play a similar system to the one Inzaghi had at Lazio.
Eriksen and Sanchez are not certain to stay at Inter though, despite all that, because both are on high salaries and Suning need to cut costs.
Arturo Vidal is in a similar position, with Inter needing to sort their finances during the upcoming transfer window.
