Inter could well sign Alessandro Florenzi to replace Achraf Hakimi, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition said the Roma full-back was in pole position to succeed the Moroccan international, who is likely to join Paris Saint-Germain before the end of the month.

Florenzi has returned to Roma after PSG opted not to make his loan move permanent, but he earns €3 million annually after tax and the Giallorossi don’t want to keep him.

Inter would need to pay €6-8 million to sign the 30-year-old, who was last night named in Roberto Mancini’s 26-man Italy squad for the European Championships.

Barcelona full-back Emerson Royal is Inter’s most credible alternative to Florenzi, the Milan-based paper explained, but he would also be the most expensive option.

Davide Zappacosta is another suggestion, with Chelsea expected to sell him despite a good season on loan at Genoa, while Adam Marusic made huge improvements under Simone Inzaghi at Lazio and could be an option too.

As far as the left wing-back position is concerned, Federico Dimarco will return from Hellas Verona but Inter’s dream signing remains Emerson Palmieri, who is out of favour at Chelsea much like Zappacosta.
