Gabriel Barbosa is finally showing everyone why Inter signed him back in 2016, at least if you believe former Nerazzurri striker Adriano.

Inter spent €30 million on the Brazilian forward but they never received anything back on their investment, with Barbosa scoring just once during his time at the club.

Barbosa was unable to resurrect his career during a loan spell at Benfica, but he has got back on track since returning to Brazil and is now succeeding at Flamengo.

“He is a born goal-scorer,” Adriano told Brazilian broadcaster UOL during ‘Arena SBT’ (via FcInter1908.it) earlier this week.

“He’s proving it with everything he’s done so far.

“Barbosa may have suffered a lot in the past, but now he’s back at the top of his game.

“I think he’s already done enough to be named in Flamengo’s All Time best XI.”

Barbosa rejoined Flamengo on an initial loan deal at the start of 2019, before making them move permanent 12 months later.

The 24-year-old has scored 65 goals in 94 appearances across all competitions, while also providing 18 assists.

Barbosa was forced to miss Flamengo’s opening league match of the new season against Palmeiras on Sunday, which Flamengo won 1-0, because he was suffering from a stomach bug.
