Arturo Vidal is in trouble with Chilean authorities after potentially breaking COVID-19 rules, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition said the Inter midfielder was under investigation for violating quarantine rules while he was preparing for Chile’s Copa America campaign this month.

Vidal tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday and is being treated at the moment, but it seems he caught the virus by not staying in the national team’s bubble.

Instead of staying within the guidelines, the 34-year-old met a model earlier this week and was then seen at a racecourse with friends, before accompanying them to dinner.

Vidal himself revealed on Monday that it was one of those friends who passed the virus onto him, which does not paint him in a favourable light.

Inter are expected to sell Vidal in the transfer window as the Nerazzurri are keen to offload his mega salary, worth a reported €6.5 million per season.
