Inter’s chances of signing Emerson Royal have all but vanished, according to a report in the Italian media today.

FcInterNews.it said Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman had decided to keep the full-back for next season, after Emerson was re-signed from Real Betis for €9 million.

Emerson’s representatives met with the La Liga giants this week and Barca gave them reassurance over their plans for the Brazilian.

Koeman is pleased to have Emerson back in his squad and the club has no intention of selling him now, unless they were to receive an incredible offer.

Inter were linked with the 22-year-old as a possible replacement for Achraf Hakimi, who looks set to join Paris Saint-Germain before the end of this month.

It seems the Nerazzurri will need to find other alternatives for the Moroccan international, because Barcelona are set to extend Emerson’s contract by two years to prove they have faith in him.
