Inter are expected to chase a deal for Emerson Palmieri in the left wing-back position, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Tuttosport’s print edition said the Nerazzurri would be forced to find an alternative to Filip Kostic, because the Eintracht Frankfurt full-back costs too much for them.

Emerson is out of contract with Chelsea next summer and is valued at €15 million, but Inter are hoping to secure the 26-year-old for a lower fee.

The Italian-Brazilian is earning an annual salary worth €3 million at Stamford Bridge, but that shouldn’t be an insurmountable problem for a deal either.

Inter would be able to make more concessions to Emerson on his salary if Chelsea agree to drop their demands for a transfer fee, the Turin-based paper added.

Emerson made only 15 appearances in all competitions during the 2020-21 season, scoring his only goal of the campaign during a 2-0 win over Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League last 16.
