Milan Skriniar was unsurprisingly named in Slovakia’s 26-man squad for the European Championships on Wednesday.

Inter nearly sold Skriniar to Tottenham Hotspur last summer but they eventually kept hold of the defender, and that proved decisive in their hunt for the Serie A title.

Skriniar formed part of Serie A’s stingiest defence alongside Stefan de Vrij and Alessandro Bastoni, but now he will go in hunt of a major trophy with his country.

Slovakia were drawn into Group E alongside Spain, Sweden and Poland, with the federation announcing Stefan Tarkovic’s final squad with a video on Instagram.

Skriniar will be joined by three other players from Serie A: Stanislav Lobotka from Napoli, Juraj Kucka from Parma and Lukas Haraslin from Sassuolo.
