Inter will not receive money from Cagliari whatever happens with Radja Nainggolan, according to a report in the Italian media today.

L’Unione Sarda (via CagliariNews24) said the Rossoblu were refusing to change their stance on the midfielder, who they signed on a six-month loan in January.

Cagliari are only prepared to re-sign Nainggolan if he terminates his contract with Inter – making him a free agent – or if Inter send him on a free loan deal.

Nainggolan would likely need to extend his contract with the Nerazzurri in that instance, because his current deal expires in 2022.

Inter and Cagliari remain distant as things stand, but the Sardinians will try and use Nainggolan’s desire to rejoin them as leverage in negotiations.

Talks could well drag on for a long time, because Inter – as per multiple reports in Italy – have no intention of giving Nainggolan a payoff if he terminates his contract with the club.
